Default Question for cash game backing

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place; couldn't find a proper forum section.

I was just wondering what the standard is for cash game backing.

I've got a friend who wants to back me for cash games, but I'm not sure exactly what the specifics should be. I know with tournaments it's generally 50/50 with winnings, and stackeback is either agreed upon or not. Not sure what the deal is for rings is though.

What is the general staking/backing deal with cash games?

Steaking people for micro stakes is kind of silly... I mean wtf, what is it 50 USD? If you havnt got that cant you just borrow the money?

If it isnt 50 bucks you are probably in the wrong forum, you could try beginners questions or maybe Internet Gambling.

Probably not the right forum, you might try again in the brick and morter forum, or maybe the home game forum? (there is a home game forum isn't there)

That being said, I would say anything you and your backer can agree to. Is "stackeback" sharing the risk as well as the rewards? That is, if you lose all his money you pay him some of it back?

The question begs the question.

Why would anyone stake a poker player who needs a stake?

Who said it was for $50?

I'm getting a $500 backing for .5/1 FLHE and I want to know the specifics of backing.

Anyone with a helpful reply?

Good point. Just to explain what my situation is, I've got funds that aren't easily transfered from my home site, and need a transfer to a site that will offer me significant rakeback. My backer is willing to deposit via credit card, hence the backing.

Staking is def not 50/50 with tournaments as far as what I have read. I think like 70/30 is more standard. I would do a search and see if you can find more details, I'm sure this has been discussed many times (prob look in higher stakes forums).

Really? So 70/30 = player/backer? I was always under the impression it was 50/50...

Anyways I will search. Thanks for the response.

No 70/30 is backer/player. I'm thinking in particular about this threadthread. I would do searches though. For me though (hint hint LOL) I would jump at a 50/50 staking opportunity.

Maybe he is short on $$. Maybe he couldn't deposit for a while cause of some [censored] 'ed up law in the country he lives in. Maybe he is just wanting to get back in the saddle and someone wants to help him out cause he thinks he is a good player and can win again.
