Who was right here...

I do not play HS but was railing the 50-100NL on FT w/ Matusow and 2 regulars. I could not copy the HH so here goes:

Player A (Button) makes it 1000, SB(Matusow) folds, Player B pushes for ~14k. Player A covers and goes in the tank and calls w/ 88, player B shows AKo. The 8's hold up and the #$%$ started flying. I was on the side arguing that the 8's never should have called. Player A said there was a history between the 2 (i.e. B pushes into him alot and did so earlier w/ T6o). I am a low limit MTTer and am having a hard time with this hand. Was the push into a PF raiser w/ AK a gross overbet or is this standard? Once he pushes I do not see how A can call.

Player A had ~ 35k IIRC
