big home audio rhapsody news
the squeezebox is a small $300 device with a remote and led display that connects via ethernet or wireless in order to play music, usually mp3s stored on your desktop pc, through your home stereo. rhapsody is an online music service, similar to itunes, that allows you to legally purchase music. unlike itunes it also supports a subscription model, which allows you to download and listen to unlimited music on your pc or compatible portable device as long as you keep up with the monthly fee ($10 or $15 depending on if you want portable support). the squeezebox was recently updated so that it works directly with the rhapsody music service. you can browse your library ("bookmarks" of albums/songs), internet radio, search for music, etc using your remote control and play it through your home stereo. no pc server software is required, just a rhapsody subscription and a squeezebox. |
