As long as the online player is smart and able to control their body, a few reverse tells should nearly make up for whatever they lose in that department.

You think Gabe Thaler, Kenny Tran, or PA, isn't going to pick up on mf'in "reverse tells"? If so, keep playing online, which I'm sure you will.

There's no question that online play has advanced the game theory behind poker, and that online poker players tend to be more mathematically un-exploitable.

Live players don't get their edge by being mathematically un-exploitable. They get it by reading mf'ers souls.

I also don't think there's any question that an online winner could beat live games for 10x the stakes. What we're discussing, however, is the BEST of the BEST, and among the best live players, there's more than math and 100bb and "reverse tells" going on.

its a gr8 fkn hustle dey got

That said, PA is obviously leveling. C'mon now.

Also, the games ARE drying up. For those of us who can't play 8+ tables online, can you really say that playing live is bad for EV?

Gave it in the last thread. But long story short, the top internet players would crush after like a month of practice

The whole principle behind being unreadable is that you... do nothing. Doing nothing, and making no attempt to read people is not exploitable.

I should hope that people who are regarded as being the best of the best at online poker can quickly hone their abilities to... do nothing.

On the other hand, if you are an unknown that is "aware" of usual tells, you can for a short period of time use reverse tells due to the other "live pros" informational deficiency. if most people are "chatty when strong", being chatty when weak will allow you to bluff in a few key spots until you get picked off and they adjust. if you are overly concerned about them "reading your soul", you can just NOT try to exploit them by...

you guess it. doing nothing.

completely unexploitable.

I've owned so many "top" live pros before with reverse tells it's really not that hard to do and not ridiculous to think that it would work on even the top pros. All live players put so much stock in their ability to read people and just assume some internet player can't reverse tell. I've tricked many a live player that was considered a nasty people-reader with some of the most simple reverse tells. They say something like "you look a bit nervous there" when you have the nuts and you subtly swallow/gulp. Make your hands shake while you're bluffing. There's tons of tricks and they work. I dont' know about PA or Kenny in particular but it's worked on tons of other "great live players" so I have no reason to doubt it would work on them also (or at least confuse them enough that they can't rely on your "tells" when you're playing against them)

Seems like such a simple argument to settle. Pick the top ten from each group. Drive by their homes. Best houses win.
