DO you think this book is better then HFAPL

For today's tough and 6max internet games? Clearly. HPFAP was written before the boom. Before computer simulations. Before PokerTracker. Before PokerStove. It was a slightly different game back then.

Are you trying to learn Limit Holdem because most of your post are No Limit.

I "grew up" on limit. Still play it occasionally. Have friends from my first game who now play 100-200 and 300-600 at Commerce, etc.

Why did you stop playing Limit? To many tough players ? Ill bet because you can bust fish for the whole stack in No Limit.

Because quite frankly I was a losing player in my limit days. Most everyone loses when they first start out, and I was further handicapped by having Ken Warren as my initial guide. These "Commerce" guys ran circles around my weak- tight butt. Took me awhile reading these boards and 2+2 books to find my bearings.

By then, the games in Houston switched from limit to pot limit holdem for the most part, and I developed a love of NL tournaments and NL/PL cash games.

I still enjoy playing limit (particularly short-handed), and reading about it. I started back playing some limit after reading SSHE, which helped me tremendously and brought a lot of things into focus.

I predict the Stox/Bags book will make a lot of money for its readers who study the advice carefully. It has some of the most explicit post-flop instruction on how to play heads up I have ever seen.

I find limit games hard because its hard to isolate a fish.

Better headsup learning than playing many hours against Poki? Surely it's all game theory and all you can do is improve your observation and sharpen your wits. (I don't know fixed limit, shorthanded or not.)

And that's your whole problem. In Limit, you really don't want to play a pot heads up after the Flop like you do in NL. You want to play large, multi-way pots with hands like ace-high flush draws & broadway straight draws.

thats not quite true, but very close. There are times when you want to isolate a player to play a pot HU as well because HU the hand has a greater +EV, but its true you want to play hands that play best in multi-way pots in multi-way pots. I'm rushing out my correction, sorry i am not more precise.

No problem TT. As usual, you are very correct.

One of the key skills in limit is recognising what hands play best multi-way (like suited connectors & suited aces) and what hands play best heads up (like big pairs).

In loose limit games (my favorite type of limit games) most of your profit will come from the multi-way hands because:

1) On a loose table those pots will be even bigger.
2) On a loose table, like renereal said, it is difficult to isolate a single player.

So why swin against the stream? Just like in NL where you set farm, wait for AA & KK and then play those hands aggressivly, in limit you raise with your SCs & suited aces, hope for a good flop, and when you get one raise every street.
