Default Beat: lost 8 hours\' worth of files, ass\'t still due tomorrow

The lab here has a good maintainance policy: all computers will reboot at 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM daily, during which maintenance is done. Sounds great.

I sign-on at 5:00 PM to start an assignment due tomorrow. Plenty of time. 12:59.50 AM rolls around without me thinking much of it. Message pops up on my screen:

"This computer will reboot in 10 seconds. Press OK to continue." WTF? 10 seconds? Oh shyte, time to save all my work in rapid click 30-table mode. Too slow, comp reboots, I lose all my work.

Beat: Have to start everything from scratch or wait until 8:00 AM and hope the admin can recover my files.

Brag: $2 earns me a Coffee Crisp to settle my pain.

Variance: This is my first thread in BBV.

one time i stayed up all night working on a final paper for one of my classes. at about 8 am i finished and was about to leave for class, but then i realized i wrote the paper in the wrong format, and it was completely worthless. i was in shock for like a half hour. i failed the class.

Not sure, but I know that the Microsoft Word that I use has an autosave feature which saves the documnet you are working on every X minutes on its own. So if you where working on it for 6hours it should have saved at some point. Good luck either way.
