$4/$8 - Should I protect this set?
$4/$8 game, 5-handed.
Folded to me on the button with 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I raise to $24, both blinds call. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB checks, BB bets $64 into the $72 pot. I have played with this guy before and read him for a flushdraw. Do you raise here or just call? What's the plan if a diamond hits the turn and he leads for ~pot again ? |

Re: $4/$8 - Should I protect this set?
If you read him for a flush draw, why on earth would you give him cheap cards?

if he bets the turn when he misses, surely waiting for a cheaper turn is best Jim?

True [/ QUOTE ] I'd rather let him 3-bet all in as a 2:1+ dog, on the flop, or make a big mistake calling a large raise. If you just call the flop, his turn bet might not be as big as your flop raise, and he's a lot more likely to drop his hand on the turn. Furthermore, we have no guarantees that he bets again on the turn, and it's also pretty tough to fold this if a diamond hits. Not to mention there's still another guy to act, who might come in and give him better odds/increase the chance you get outdrawn. |

Re: $4/$8 - Should I protect this set?
Thanks Jim - I was thinking amongst those lines, raised to $257 and took it down.
Then I wondered "hmm perhaps I should've gotten more out of this", hence I posted. (edit, corrected raise amt.) |
