I usually go like 1-3 min between sets. maybe a little more once i'm a few sets into squats or deadlifting. I like to keep my weight training no longer than an hour but use everything i've got in my body in that time. followed up by a big high protein meal and your good to go.

you could check out www.bodybuilding.com
theres pretty much anything you would want to know about working out.
those guys are pretty nuts tho on the forums

Did anybody mention drop sets? Whatev, just do high volume-low intensity stuff until your muscles get accustomed to being used, and this hi vol-lo intensity stuff can be done every day with a break every few days. You don't have to overthink it, especially if you're just trying to 'get in shape'. It's not rocket science, just do stuff until you can't anymore.

probably some of the worst workout advice ever. hes a beginner drop sets are not needed, and the 2nd half of your post is utterly ridiculous

why are you asking a poker forum (Do quick google search for fitness forums, which likely have paid experts who answer questions)?

www.menshealth.com
www.absdietonline.com <--try a 10 day free trial so you can guage the workout plan they put people on and give example meal choices

Good luck, the first step is getting active then its dedication and will power.

And cardio everyday will work at the beginning because you will easily burn some of the fat around your face, neck and some around the waist. But eventually you get to the point where your body will be burning muscle to replenish the energy and that is when you need the strength training to come in to help keep your body shaped nicely (and 1lb of muscle added will burn additional 50 calories/day).
