hands/hr. in a live game?

i've never played in a casino where they get more than 30 hands/hr. that includes vegas, new orleans, biloxi, puerto rico. the ones here in florida are actually btwn 20-25 hands/hr (i know dealers that only get like 17 hands/hr but those r the worst of the worst).

as for how many hands u need to know if u r a winnin player the true answer is 1. as long as u r up in $ u r a winnin player and nothin else matters. of course take into consideration that the more hands or hrs u have as proof the closer u r to truly knowin if u r a winnin player in the long run. if u still need a specific number then i'd say just pick somethin close to 20k hands online or 500 hrs live and guide urself by that.

Is this a level? I thought it was more like several thousand hands. So you're saying if you play full time (2000 hrs/yr), you don't know if you're a winning player for over 3 years? And if you have a full time job and can play only 500 hours a year, you don't know if you're a winner for over 13 years? And even that assumes you play the same game at the same stakes for all that time.

Right, it's crazy, but that's how it is.

I'll go so far as to say - you never know if you're a winning player (mathematically). That's because it takes so many hands for the math to work out, that by the time you get there, you're not the same player any more.

Also depends on limit vs NL. NL takes longer on average because NL hands get slowed down with crazy side pots and checking stack sizes and pot sizes for all-in plays. Also, those decisions take players longer, because they are for so many chips sometimes. In limit, it just isn't going to take you 5 minutes to call a river bet.

You're insane if you think you average 37 hands per hour at full ring alive anywhere in this country. Maybe once in awhile with an exceptional dealer and extremely fast players, but the average is probably on more of a range from 29-32.

The original question and the '37' figure never mentioned Limit or NL.

There are games other than "your game" and casinos other than "your club".

It's a big poker world.

Sorry but this simply isn't true, you can insist it all you want but I dealt poker for several years, at various venues. Some professional, some underground. Limit, NL, and tournaments, and no one anywhere averages 37 hands/hour consistently. Once in awhile, in higher Limit games 9 handed where you have fast players at the table, you might reach that figure, and in nitty tournaments. As far as an average for your standard casino etc, not a chance.
