Playing in a good game but running v bad - keep playing or quit?
So you're playing a 5 handed 3/6 game and the other 4 players are
vpip/pfr: 61/9 75/8 65/19 48/35 All the fish are catching hands like there is no tomorrow and you are running terribly after 150 hands. Despite starting off with your 'A' game, you are now probably tilting a bit and playing a 'C' game. Is the game so good that you should play forever, even if you're not playing your best? Or just quit and wait for another day? |

Re: Playing in a good game but running v bad - keep playing or quit?
I'm sure you already know the correct answer to this one. If you're not playing well, quit, because you'll end up making plays out of frustration/tilt you shouldn't. However, the real answer is to work on controling your tilt/emotions and keep playing your "A-game" so you don't have to quit a good game.

Stop tilting and then keep playing. If you can't stop tilting then quit playing because while you are still a decent favorite in this game you will beat yourself up psychologically if you stay and continue to lose thinking stupid [censored] like "should have quit when I was stuck X amount" and this sort of thinking can carry on to future sessions and make you continue playing subpar.

If you can't get off your c-game then quit, especially the 48/35 guy can be terrible to play against in this situation if you're not playing well.

If despite being at your C game you can still beat these players, then it is profitable to keep playing. Psychologically though, you're probably paying a hefty price.

sit out two orbits, bang your head on the desk in the meantime and then continue to play your A-Game
(and dont forget to bring fresh money to the table) |

You're C game should still be good enough to beat that table that good. (BTW I'm assuming this is 1/2 or lower because I don't think I've seen a table that juicy in months).
Put on some positive music and grab a snack or something to get your mind off of recent beats, and hunker down until these fish leave or go broke. Tables like this don't come around often enough anymore, and learning to deal with some suckouts will be good for you in the long run. |
