Rescue Dawn

I just saw Rescue Dawn last night. Its based on a true story and stars Christian Bale as a pilot in Vietnam that gets shot down and has to survive. I thought it was awesome and done very well. Id recommend seeing it. Anybody else see it? Rescue Dawn Rotten

This might be due to unfair expectations, but I found the movie to be too . . . conventional, I guess. It was a perfectly decent movie, but I expect more from Herzog.

Herzog did a fantastic interview with NPR's Fresh Aire recently. He talks about Deiter, the tough things that Bale and Zahn went through during filming, his fascination with the jungle and with men at the limits of survival. He talks about Grizzly Man at some length. Well worth listening.

ms. thumb is a big herzog fan and went to see this, she enjoyed it too but kinda agreed with hoya that it didn't feel that much like a herzog movie.

Herzog did a documentary on the actual guy in 1997 called Little Dieter Needs to Fly.
