Default I pretty much have to call this river bet, right?

Live 2-5 at the good ol' Rio. Villain hasn't played many pots at all over the last two hours.

Dealt Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in late position. I limp behind a few others. Yes I know... raise preflop. What can I say, I like to disguise my preflop hands so I almost always limp. Reduces my variance, keeps me out of risky cbet situations, allows me to trap better, and suits me just fine. Whatever, moving on...

Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Checked to me, I bet the pot $30, get called by villain in EP.

Turn 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He checks, I bet pot $90 he calls

River 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

He instantly bets pot $270... hero????????????!

Stack sizes? He has kjt9 or ah7hxx(89 maybe), right. I really hate calling with 3rd nuts. Given the lack of hands played by villian, and the insta-potting I would fold.

I think he had 200 more behind after the river bet. I had about 1200 left.

You don't think he could be betting a lower flush? It did come runner runner after all.

Btw your hand is impossible both you and the Board have the Q of Hearts. If the Ace is the heart on the board then a call is more reasonable.
Its possible he could be betting a jack high flush in the kjt9 example i gave, but the tough part is figuring out what hands check call the flop. Given that the person has played very few hands the last two hours (I am assuming 30 hands an hour) I would put the person on a very coordinated hand like kjt9 ss/ds or kqjt ss. (I dont think jt98 is very likely to call on a 4 outer on the flop.) This type of hand might not be raised early position and might not bet into the pot from ep, but would call a flop and definitely a turn bet.

It is also possible that the person is bluffing with a posture of strength because their straight draw busted and he saw a scare card. I hope your call paid off.

OOooo the risky cbet situations. Wow allows you to trap better (in omaha..). And disguising your hand by limping all hands is super tricky too.
I fold the river because we dont know the villain and we dont have the nuts but he might, and he bets the pot.

seems like the Ah a lot of the time. btw, the easiest wayh to disguise your hands in omaha is to raise them. a lot.

or never raise anything, ever.

Also, is this table playing non-nut flushes? Last year the few days I played, people played flushes like they were playing NLHE, i.e. if they hit any flush they thought they had the nuts. If someone had a higher flush, then that was just plain bad luck.

I could see someone value betting any backdoor flush here OOP with the expectation that because a flush hit the river would just get checked around.

But if this is a tight and solid nutpeddler, then I agree this will almost be an ace high flush.

I'd add up the hand range factors in your head and call if you have the proper odds.
