NL25 - A9 Two Pair vs. probably TP + unimproved Kicker
Villain is 26.5/7.4/1.44 ..
I played this hand because we were both very deep.. Had him on AA/KK/QQ/AK PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) BB ($11.25) UTG ($9.40) Hero ($78.10) CO ($57.15) Button ($23) SB ($16.55) Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to $1, CO raises to $3.5, 3 folds, Hero calls $2.50. Flop: ($7.35) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets $3, Hero calls $3. Flop wasnt bad.. wanted to see the next card and what he will do cheaply. So I just c/c it. Turn: ($13.35) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. Thought he would prolly bet if I check it. I wasnt scared of a flush or something.. River: ($13.35) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets $5, Hero raises to $12, CO calls $7. That turn check made me thought he would have AK and that he is worried about a flush .. his bet looked like a small value bet with AK so I raised it .. Wrong?!? Final Pot: $37.35 |

Re: NL25 - A9 Two Pair vs. probably TP + unimproved Kicker
I dont like call preflop better off doing that with PP's and connectors than a likely dominated hand like A9s, suitedness dosesnt matter much here. I dont think villian is stacking off on a ace high flop here with KK or QQ. SO this preflop call is not great IMO esp OOP.
As played, you played it fine I might just lead river for 8-10 but c/r worked you prob had the best hand. |

Playing A9s OOP against a villian who only raises 7.4% of the time is a recipe for disaster. As played, I'm not a huge fan of the flop call. If you really thought you had the best hand here, a c/r may have been the best play. You were lucky to hit one of your 5 outs. Against this opponent c/r this flop if I think he's CBing with nothing or simply fold. |
