8s3s on AhQs9s flop with UTG limper
This is a hand from PXF HH I was looking at. BB/hero is successful MTT pro. UTG and SB are randoms. UTG starts hand with 6600, SB 11400, and BB 10200. $100 MTT on Party. Blinds 200/400/0.
UTG limps, SB completes, BB checks with 8s3s. Flop comes AhQs9s. SB checks. What should BB do? |

is betting ~800 with the intention of 3bet shoving to a raise incredibly spewy?

Re: 8s3s on AhQs9s flop with UTG limper
I think we need to lead the flop here, good shot to take down the pot now. If UTG comes over the top I have no problem folding. I dont like c/c or c/r here it just seems to hard to play this hand that way. I think I know what hand your talking about he c/folded right?

i like a bet/fold but bet a largish amount to discourage higher draws from calling

I would checkraise allin. The UTG limp is almost always cbetting. He calls with an ace, flush draw, and maybe 2nd pair and gutshot. You are 38% of less against an ace and 18% or less against a flush draw, but most of the time the limper doesn't hit this flop hard. This is not how hero played it.

Re: 8s3s on AhQs9s flop with UTG limper
If UTG is always betting when checked to, how often is he raising when Hero leads?
If UTG is raising Hero's lead, and folding to a 3bet shove as often as he folds to a CRAI, then the lead/3bet shove gets more value...unless Villain commits himself with the flop raise, in which case the CRAI > lead/3bet shove Also, doesn't the CRAI look a lot like a draw? |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think you are deep enough to 3-bet allin. The checkraise looks like a draw, but you could checkraise a lot of hands from the blinds. It is hard to call without atleast top pair. |

Hero actually minbet 400 and UTG called. Is this a good play? The turn is Td for AhQs9sTd. What do we do now?

Re: 8s3s on AhQs9s flop with UTG limper
I don't like the minbet, beacause you're giving better flush draws 4-1 to call. I also don't like it beacause Hero doesn't have a hand yet, he has 8-high, so our bet is a bluff, and a pretty weak one.
What to do on the turn as played? There's 2000 in the pot, and 5400 in Villain's stack. Personally, I c/f and kick myself for playing the flop so bad. The other option is to bet something like 1600-2000, committing ourselves to the hand, letting Villain know that we're not folding. That is unless some people think Hero should just shove the turn. |
