is this too loose of a push

the thing is, he's right.

also, push seems fine but you'll have a better idea of the blinds calling range than anyone else, so take that with a grain of salt.

I would think that the BB calls way too wide to make this a +ev shove.

He can call wide enough such that Q8o is in his range and the shove still can be +EV. However this is of course assuming a tight SB and also assuming that Q8o is at the bottom of BB's calling range.

w/ 1/4th of his stack in and it not being the bbl, do you really think q8o is the bottom of his range? I'm kind of doubtful of this, especially at a $1 sng.
