Default People that harass and berate

Up to this point in time, I've never felt a need to report people who were generally being very hostile at the table. The last few days, I've reported 10 people who I felt were totally out of line. Is it just me or do these guys drive you crazy. Their stunt would not be tolerated in a B&M Cardroom so i see no reason why it should be tolerated on poker sites. Am I unreasonable to expect others to be courteous and respectful to the rest of the table?

Yes you are. But you are not wrong.

If you have reported 10 people recently then you may be a little too sensitive. I think it is correct to report them if they are being abusive and using language that is totally inappropriate. However, if they are just rambling and calling people a donk when they take a bad beat it doesn't bother me.

People who trash talk are bad players. I'll happily put up with trash talking to keep them at the table.

Yes I believe you are being unreasonable. Policing the chat just makes you come off as a douche. The internet preys on your sensitivity and they win because you actually spend the energy in trying to report them. It's a waste of time, people are not going to change what they type especially if it is not harshly regulated. a warning from being reported is not enough reinforcement to change behavior. At the B&M, you can get thrown out if you keep it up.

Comparing online chat and B&M is just outright silly. It is not the same. poker sites are purely visual, you can turn off chat and play just as fine. In B&M you have to experience it whether you like it not. You have to deal with the audio expect of B&M; i cant drown it out with music because I would not be able to hear important info e.g checks, raises. Not to mention it slows down the game. Online, action moves on regardless of chat.

Honestly, it's merely sticks and stones. Words should never hurt you, especially when it comes from the interweb. since it does in your case, you need to develop some skin.

Its not rambling and calling people donk its stuff like "go stiff your dead parents, i hope your mom gets cancer, etc". I dont think its out of line to report people for stuff like that.

I have actually played live a ton and have put up with a LOT of crap from people. Constant verbal harassment that comes just short of being thrown out of the casino. I've been threatened at my cardroom by someone with a massive ego and as he put it "isnt afraid to go back to prison".

As for the first part you wrote, I dont feel a need to "police" the table. If someone says something that is outright rude i'll ask them kindly if they have nothing good to say then dont say anything at all. Either they usually stop (not common) or come out with a whole barrage of other insults.

You're right, a warning wont stop them from continuing their ways. But eventually, if they dont change their ways they will lose their chat then mission accomplished right?

Spending 1 minute writing 1 paragraph to support takes as much energy as walking to my fridge. If this is really a reason to let people harass the table for hours then I think you have more serious issues then I supposedly have.

[/ QUOTE ]No it doesn't. Just send a report to the site if you think it is warrented.

[/ QUOTE ]They will if they are reported and lose chat ability. The more this happens the more people will control what they write. It can only be controlled if people report it.

congrats, you are a tattletale.

It's good that you are winning so much that you can take the time to report people rather than stand up for yourself, or better yet, be the bigger person and let it go.

and people berate all the time at B+M cardrooms, i dk what you are thinking of.

No one is letting anyone be harassed. If you are being harassed for hours, you are doing so willingly. The quickest, most effective solution is to ignore the user/close chat.

Objectively speaking, I think you are doing others a disservice by reporting the person. Those who berate are likely on tilt, something people bank on. If anyone "lets" someone harass them, it is to use it to their advantage.

I find it ridiculous if you actually sit there and take the harassment for hours, allowing meaningless text to get to you.

imo, it does. Policing anything where you don't really have the authority, warrant or consensus for makes you a douche. Our president is a good example.
