Oh, another one.

I was watching my roommate play a SnG online, and he picks up AA out of the SB, with one limper in MP. He just calls, and I asked him: "Why didn't you raise there?" and he said "Because I don't want them to fold"

No wonder he's stuck $100 at $1 SnG's.

My favorite things to claim at the table:

Small cards are better... (this can be followed with a detailed discussion of dead card odds, related to people playing mostly high cards, if the person next to me is the 2+2 type)

I'm good at making straights.

Have to be in it to win it!

I had two flush draws. (in holdem.)

"I was a favorite." if somebody complains that I sucked out. (this can also be followed by a mutant discussion of odds... like "i had a club and a heart, so that's two flush draws, plus my pair outs, I had 24 outs, so I was a big favorite.)

Flushes come at least 50% of the time. They either do, or they don't.

Author IS serious. One of his buddies never plays AA because it always looses.

Donk calls 3bet from nit at table. Flop comes 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Donk check-raise nit all-in. Nit tables red queens. Donk tables J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Donk: "I have an open-ended straight draw, a flushdraw AND an overcard!"
I like: "An overcard to what?"
Donk: "Well yeah, an overcard to the board, but he doesn't count. Still, I got so many outs, I can't loose!"
Me: "Yeah, [insert nit's name] only has a small edge... I wouldn't be surprised if you were slightly ahead either."
Donk: "Me too!"
*turn bricks*
Donk: "Damn, didn't hit it! Oh well, got it in with the best..."

I lol'ed hard inside. I knew he was bad (always ended up at least losing 3BI's a night) but never knew how bad really till he came up with this ****.

I think from this thread that I've learned there are two kinds of donks:

1. Those who admit they don't know what they're doing, and they're not sure about the strategy they're applying (rare)

2. Those who think their strategy works every time, and that anyone who disagrees with him/her is an idiot (common)

"He re-raised you with 74o? As tight as you've been playing, I wouldn't even call with 74.... maybe if it was suited."

Heard another brainstorm last night at the Borgata. In a 1/2 NL game, player to my immediate left either limped blind or min-raised blind from UTG. Although the Borgata doesn't allow live straddles, he did this "to take the pressure off" from having to act first before the flop.

What a pressure-cooker it is to figure out if you have a hand worthy of playing OOP after the flop. It's much better to commit yourself to doing so blind.

$60 donkament at the Stratosphere the other night. Blinds are at 500-1000 and I am in the SB. After posting blind I have 200 in chips left. It folds around to me and I go all in with 42 offsuit. I end up cracking BB's AA and he's pissed and dumbfounded, repeatedly asking how I could go all in with 42. I try to explain how there's no way I'm folding when there's 1500 in the pot and I only have 200 left but it just does no good...
