Who is most recognizable worldwide?

There's someone who's obviously in the top two most famous for face recognition worldwide, alongside Bush:

Osama Bin Laden

I don't think you can argue about that, really. Bin Laden is known everywhere: for sure all the US, Europe, Africa, Pakistan and India, probably the former Soviet Union, for sure in Japan.

Also, how about people who aren't so well known in the US but are huge elsewhere, like some Indian or Chinese politician...

The only ones I'd recognise would be Beckham, Woods and Bush and possibly Mccartney, Jordan is the only basketball player who's even vaguely known worldwide except for that guy Rodman who was on big brother but he's more famous for being on big brother, had never heard of him before that. Absolutely no american footballers or baseball players are famous worldwide, I could not name one.

Beckham is very popular in Asia so I'd say he's more famous than Jordan who's mainly famous in America.

If you had a line of 5 people dressed in religious looking clothing, I doubt very many people at all could pick out which one was the pope.

Bush is the most famous American by far, Michael Jordan is not even close.

I think that Jordan is more famous than Michael Jordan.

That's inaccurate as most of the Jordan results are for Jordan not Michael Jordan, you have to put the whole name in quotes eg. "Michael Jordan"

Why are people clining on to Jordan's fame which faded a decade ago? Thats a whole new generation of people who have no idea who he is.

Give it a couple of years and Beckham will single handedly raise the profile of "soccer" in America to become one of the most biggest sports.

And unfortunatley for the wrong reasons the most recognized person in Europe at the moment is Madeline Mccann.

I only know Michael Jordan from that kids movie i seen when i was like 10. He isn't famous outside of the US really. No American Sports figure is well known worldwide. Your sports like American Football, baseball, basketball and hockey basically just don't exist in Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. (obv a few exceptions for some of those sports in some countries) When i was in Asia i seen so many things about David Beckham like the fake shirts with his name on the back and stuff like that worn by soooooooooo many people. Plenty of other names like Ronaldinho too on shirts. So definitely Beckham is more of a worldwide name than Jordan.

George Bush is most recognizable face in the world IMO. Also searching the internet doesn't mean much for people being most recognizable. I know much more about Beckham than Michael Jordan but i would have much more of a chance of googling Michael Jordan's name just because i want to find out information on him.
