Default Deathproof

Just been released here (England) as an independent feature film rather than going under the Grindhouse banner, so forgive me if this thread has been done before.

I absolutely loved it - Stuntman Mike has gone down as one of my favourite Tarantino characters behind Jules, and Madsen's two characters. I loved the whole scene with Mike observing his prey in the bar and watching him change into this great psychopath in the car. Then the deaths of the first 5 girls absolutely blew me away - that crash was simply amazing, my jaw was on the floor.

A fair few people in the theatre hated it mainly because 'OMG it looks soo old' and 'FFS this projectionist is useless!!!' and a few of my friends thought the dialogue-driven scenes dragged, but this is all part of the fun of a Tarantino movie for me.

obviously this thread has been done. i thought there were a couple of amazing scenes in this movie and the rest was borderline torture, but apparently that was his goal?

When I saw this movie, my friends and I were laughing most of the time. It was really that bad. How could anyone like this???

Further proof that you are a silly wrong bald man.

This movie was possibly Tarantino's best movie, really awesome that they released it by itself. Kinda wish they'd done that here too. I mean, the two movies together setup offputting expectations for them both...plus it's hella long. If it wasn't for the trailers it would have been totally painful.

Because it was a fun and light-hearted popcorn flick. If you went in expecting the new Pulp obviously you are going to be disappointed. If you watch it for some stupid, mindless, but fun entertainment its awesome. It probably works better if you know a little about old B-movies and the grindhouse movies.

This movie was exactly what I expected.

To those that didn't like it - didn't the previews pretty much tell you EXACTLY what kind of movie it was gonna be?

Tarantino + b-movie style = Guaranteed ridiculous but fun. Don't go in expecting a real plot.

I have not seen the movie yet, but when I read comments like this it makes me really want to see it since I do like most of his work. Then I read other comments about it being a total mindless b-movie with only explosions and other superficial entertainment and no plot. Do you agree with those conclusions? I would find it hard to believe that this movie is better than Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill and it completely lacks anything that resembles a plot.
