Default My right side is much stronger than my left side

...and it's [censored] annoying.

In the past year, I have made 3 attempts at keeping up a weight lifting program (nothing too serious, just enough to keep me in shape and looking decent). And all three times I have gotten pissed and discouraged because the left side of my body is so much weaker than my right side. When doing bench press, I always find that my left arm is lagging behind my right. When doing bicep curls, I can consistently do 2 more reps with my right arm than my left arm.

It seems like the problem is a combination of strength and coordination. I'm wondering specifically what exercises I should do to help even out my left side with my right.

I was thinking maybe running clockwise on the track might help, since I will have to push off harder with my left leg on the curves. Other than that, should I go to the gym for a few weeks and only do left-side exercises?

I've tried to focus on doing basic everyday tasks with my left hand to improve coordination, but I inevitably forget.

Any and all ideas appreciated.

Just stay with it for a couple months and it'll take care of itself.

Wow. Just wow. Perhaps brushing your teeth with your left hand will do the trick.

You're right that coordination can have a lot to do with it.

Try to start all lifts with your weak side, is standard advice.

You can also try to have different work-outs for each side. Lift heavier on your left for a while, while using your right more for light work. Your neuromuscular coordination will start to catch up, which will help your strength. You can actually gain strength very quickly if you are willing to try.

This could be the sign of a neck/upper back injury. Do you ever have numbness or tingling in your weaker arm?

It seems like it might help. Normally I just run around my neighborhood, but I'll be going back to school in a few days and there will be a track nearby. I figured if I'm going to be running, I might as well work my left side a little harder than my right side.
