Re: Betting unimproved pairs on the river.
[ QUOTE ]
Only a moron would call the river with less. [/ QUOTE ]There are plenty of players who will call the river with unimproved queens at 3/6- I don't know how much different 5/10 plays. |

[/ QUOTE ] Assuming you have a weak/tight image, it may take a moron to call. Otherwise, any non-expert player is certainly likely to call >50% of the time, and assuming that your opponents are experts is rarely +EV. |

Re: Betting unimproved pairs on the river.
I guess it is player dependent. I wouldn't call the river with just QQ.

Re: Betting unimproved pairs on the river.
[ QUOTE ]
He capped 3rd and bet every street. QQ no good. [/ QUOTE ]Clearly- but it's not about what is correct; it is about what people will do. At 3/6 I bet into a guy the whole way showing an ace- he had a 3 straight with one gap until the river where he made a single pair of 5s- he paid off my AA unimproved value bet. People are really bad at Stud (myself included, lately- must learn to control tilt ). The other thing (straight out of 7CS4AP) you can do with unimproved aces is check planning to raise if he bets into you- of course, this only works if villain is capable of folding two pair for one bet. I have found some people who will and they have been noted |
