it's obviously a statement that is meant to garner attention. We all know that the MLS isn't completely on par with the prem, but at the same time, the MLS isn't as bad as 3rd or 4th tier leagues in england or many 2nd divisions across europe. If the MLS was in europe, it would get a 1.5 rating from world soccer for their golden boot award, basically meaning that it's a second tier top division

[/ QUOTE ]

Who would be in top tier besides England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France?

my mate (life time preston north end fan) went to see toronto vs ny red bulls a couple of weeks ago and he said it was league one at best and definitely not championship standard so premiership seems way way off

I don't know much about the american league and I generally dont like to comment on what I do not know much about BUT based on what I do know about the various european leagues I would be very suprised if the MLS was as strong as underrated leagues such as certainly the Turkish, Greek and especially the Dutch but also the Belgium, Russian and the Czech even.

Soccer is such a horribly constructed sport that an inferior MLS team could compete with a Euro team for a few games and it would be hard to notice the difference.

White Don King has been hinting at saying this if not outright saying it for awhile now.

It's utterly ridiculous, but if it will get even a few more people in the U.S. to regularly watch soccer, than it's fine with me.

If MLS wants me to watch, all they need to do is change their championship game schedule (maybe move it to august). there is no way I will follow the revs all season, only to have to miss the championship game becuase it is on at the same time as a Patriots game.
