Looking for high-low action in Vegas
East coaster here, flying to Vegas for 2 weeks in July. I'm looking for $30-60 up to $80-160 (and the game can have a kill, no preference to me)and ideally, I'd like to play mix, O8 and Stud8, but either or is fine.
I heard that the Wynn had a mix game...? Does anyone know the limits? I also heard that one of the games in the rotation was Badogi(sp?), which I am not familiar with. Anyway, I don't want to play in a rock garden (which was always the case when I used to go Vegas and played in the 20-40 O8 game at the B). Any suggestions appreciated. |

Re: Looking for high-low action in Vegas
I'm more of a 4/8er myself, but I know the Wynn and the Bellagio spread O8 that high.
Badugi is this: You get dealt four cards then bet. You get to draw 1 to 4 cards, then bet. You get to draw 1 to 4 cards again, then bet. You get to draw 1 to 4 cards a final time, then bet. You show down. The hand that wins is the hand with the lowest high card that contains no two cards of the same rank and no two cards of the same suit. For example, As, 2c, 3d, 4h is the absolute nut hand. Any hand that can play all four cards is known as a "badugi", and any badugi beats any hand that can play only 3 or fewer cards. For example, a king high badugi (Ks, Qc, Jh, Td) beats Ac As 2c 3d or Ac 2c 3h 4s. |

Re: Looking for high-low action in Vegas
So it's a f'd up vrsion of triple draw right? So you have to keep at least one card per round? Not that you should be playing it in the first place but... So it there strategy to this game? Can you actually account for how many of this suit are taken up by XXX?? You can probably account for the low end of the deck being kept further on into the deal but... Still seems like a crap shoot to me.
And there was an O* in vegas thread earlier, but it's not looking too promising right now. However, I'm going right when the WSOP is having it's 1500 O8 and 50K horse so there should be enough out of towners to get a 20/40 goin. hopefully there isn't a 75/150 game or something taking up all the players that would be playing the 20/40. See yall there. |
