Duke also lost championship games to Kentucky in 1978 and Louisville in 1986 under coach Bill Foster, I believe. Alot of folks forget about the past acheivements of the Duke program. They obviously were not the perpetual powerhouse that they are now, but were nearly always competitive.

1986 was Coach K's first FF (Johnny D and the boys), but you're right about 1978. I think any rational fan would understand Duke's significant place in CBB history, not just the Coach K era.
