I don't want to use the word "clearly" but I feel pretty strongly the top 6 all-time are UCLA, Kentucky, Indiana, UNC, Duke, and Kansas.

[/ QUOTE ]

Completely agree.

As far as all time goes, I have to put Duke slightly behind the other 5 due to the fact that they are all coach K while the other programs have all has success in multiple eras and under multiple coaches.

Duke has 2 more Final 4s than Kansas, one more title, 12 more tournament wins, and 8 less tournament losses.

They have also never been the victim of a huge first round upset, while Kansas has twice.

Pretty hard to argue Kansas > Duke imo, and I'm a Maryland fan.

Not sure how many wins Duke had in the Coach K era but they are still #4 all time in wins. They have been around for a ton of years but it's still something to note.

"Final Fours" for Ohio State include:
1939 - 8 team field (runner up)
1944 - 8 team field
1945 - 8 team field
1946 - 8 team field
A break to John Havlicek/Jerry Lucas era:
1960 - 25 team field (champions)
1961 - 24 team field (runner up)
1962 - 25 team field (runner up)

I understand what you're saying, but an 8 team field just means it was even harder to make the tournament. In fact, I would think that an 8 team field would result in less of a luck factor and more of rewarding the long regular season.

Um, just curious. I see Arizona only has 3 votes as of right now. They have been to what, 22 straight NCAA tournaments? Now I will not say they are an all-time team but shouldn't they be close to a top 5 team of the present just based on consistency? If I am off base that's fine I'm just wondering. It seems really low to me.

FWIW: I voted, (for right now) Duke, UNC, Arizona, Kansas, and UCLA/Florida. Maybe I just mis-interpreted "right now" and thought it meant in the recent past.

Agree.
Not until 1975 did they allow more than one team from a conference ('74 the two best teams in the country were Maryland and eventual champ NC State). They expanded to 32 teams.
And until then, the West Region meant West.
