Default UPC cancels TV taping for $340 buy-in events

An announcement with similar wording to what is below (from my memory) was placed at the UPC registration table at Binion's:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the $340 buy-in UPC events on Sundays starting January 28 will no longer be filmed for television...

Looks like the payment processor crisis has caught Passport Entertainment, the producer of the UPC, in the crossfire.

One would assume that one of the 5 online poker "school" sponsors (PokerStars.NET, DoylesRoom.NET, FullTiltPoker.NET, AbsolutePoker.NET, VegasPoker247.NET) has at least put any further funding of the UPC "on hold".

Which one? I don't know yet.

A week ago, Poker PROductions (Mori Eskandani, Eric Drache, et. al.) made the decision to postpone the taping of tournaments 11-20 of NBC's Poker After Dark. There was no mystery as to what happened: FullTiltPoker.NET has put additional production funds "on hold".
