Default Foxwoods 2-5 NL

Taking a shot at the 2-5 game this afternoon. . .

Results to follow.

Game has just opened up in the past hour, and so far I'm confident that I'm one of the most solid players at the table. There's a good willingness to gamble though; I've seen three all-in's in my first couple of orbits.

Hand 1:

I sat down with 300 and after rake and a couple of blinds I'm down to 280.

Hero is in MP with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

1 call in EP
Hero raises to 25.

Villain calls in LP.

Blinds fold.

Flop (~57): Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I lead for 35, villain raises to 70, Hero . . . ??

OK, folding preflop here obviously wouldn't have been bad, but I have a tight image at the moment and like to mix it up. I also don't mind conveying a donkish image in the first hour or so at the table.

Advice in this spot??

At this point I have 220 in my stack.

It's 35 more for me to call, and the pot has ~162.

If I call here that leaves me at about 185, just under the size of the pot.

I just really don't like this spot on the turn having to act first; if I call on the flop am I going to fold the turn to an all-in?

Why would you not call? This is pretty much one of the flops you are hoping for when you play this hand with a short stack. Call and see a turn. If you miss I think you basically have to c/f. I think at this point a reraise all in would be pointless because I think villain will have 44, 66, or AQ here almost every time.

Exactly what flop were you looking for when you called pre?
Please dont say i wanted to flop a flush....Definitely need to know your strategy bf calling, its a very nice flop when u know how u will play it...Personally, i never call close to 10% of stack with this type of hand...5% is ideal!

Call, for all you know he'll check a set behind on the turn or bet something like 30$. I was there a few weeks ago and saw that sort of play at the 2-5 and 5-10 game, also, sit full stacked or don't play your draws aggressively

TWP,

"call?"
"yes?"

Awsome. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Scatt,

I don't mind the preflop play one bit. Sure you could fold, but sure you could raise. Choose your own adventure pal.

Since you did raise, understand that a c-bet will put you in this situation with given stack sizes. So maybe next time you might think a c/c or c/r flop would be a better line.
