Math homework help
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Edit: It is (geometric) linear programming There are three 'nutrients': A, B and C The minimum amount of units required of each are 160, 200 and 80 respectively. There are two brands of products containing these nutrients... Product Alpha costs $8/bag and contains 3 units of A, 5 of B and 1 of c. Product Beta costs $6/bag and contains 2 units of A, B and C each. In order to minimize costs while still maintaining the amount of nutrients, what combination of Alpha and Beta should be purchased (you do not need to solve it, only construct the math model ie. objective function and constraints). Note: I have already done similar questions with the exception that there wasn't multiple products and prices involved. |

Re: Math homework help
disclaimer--its been several years since i've done LP formulation. this may be wrong.
also, what major are you? please indulge my curiosity. min: costs let x1 = bags of alpha x2= bags of beta min 8 x1 + 6 x2 S.T. A>=160 B>=200 c>=80 A = 3 x1 + 2 x2 B = 5 x1 + 2 x2 C = 1 x1 + 2 x2 all dec vars non neg. apply simplex algorithm or plug that sucker into lingo and you are done |

Re: Math homework help
Okay, I'm trying to work through it. This is a very annoying question that shouldn't be hard.

The first and second years are mostly intro courses before specialization begins in third year. FWIW, I would like to go into either accounting or finance. |
