Re: Beat: People think I\'m a Bum. BBV, help me Brag?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Honestly who cares what other people think. If your making good money and your happy, that should be all that matters. Just say your an investor. If they ask what, tell them that it's a sensitive matter and you have signed a non-disclosure clause. As you do this, check the time on your Patek watch and say "I gotta go meet with potiental investors" and jump in your SL. Don't worry about others; you could be making money instead of wasting your time on trivial stuff like that. Holla. [/ QUOTE ] See, I don't own a watch or a car. I've never bought anything over $5k. [/ QUOTE ] Impressive. [/ QUOTE ] ahh - bumped an old post on accident - sorry, too late to delete - this thread was linked in another thread and I didn't notice how old it was. |

Re: Beat: People think I\'m a Bum. BBV, help me Brag?
[ QUOTE ]
Jman, The way people react to your profession has a lot more to do with the image you project than with poker itself. I'm back in school now, but even when I was taking time off I got overwhelmingly positive responses. If you're embarrassed, of course people will assume you're a lowlife with one foot in the gutter. If act like you dropped out of college because you had more lucrative and interesting things to do, then that's what people will believe. People who have had a friend destroy themselves gambling will take more convincing, but poker is fairly trendy right now and lots of people our age, including girls, have a casual interest. Do not under any circumstances talk numbers. This is utterly classless, reeks of insecurity, and will alienate most people our age who did not make 21k before breakfast. If you want people to know you're successful, then dress well and buy nice things. [/ QUOTE ] qft |

Re: Beat: People think I\'m a Bum. BBV, help me Brag?
Who cares what other people think. Just tell them straight up. If you feel you would have a hard time trying to explain what you're doing, then just say you're an investor. Most people will usually follow up with "in stocks?" and then stop asking any more questions because they're too stupid to know anything about it. Don't buy dump [censored] just to impress people. I think that's even more insecure than lying about what you do.
Btw, Rekrul on Korean girls is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo true. Just a bunch of undercover hookers... |
