Who cares what other people think. Just tell them straight up. If you feel you would have a hard time trying to explain what you're doing, then just say you're an investor. Most people will usually follow up with "in stocks?" and then stop asking any more questions because they're too stupid to know anything about it. Don't buy dump [censored] just to impress people. I think that's even more insecure than lying about what you do.
