does everyone who has ever bought a single powerball ticket have a gambling problem?
I'm too lazy to do the research and will let you answer for me.

[/ QUOTE ]
No, but someone who knows they are -EV and buys them over and over again does. Maybe not a huge problem (yet), but certainly a problem.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is so absurd.

The EV I lose on a dollar a week is far surpassed by the change in life should I ever win one.

Taking a bet you know is -EV does not mean you have a problem.

it's -EV in terms of money but
it's +EV (well +++++EV) in terms of feeling.

Or do you dismiss all girls because they are definitely -EV in terms of money (well maybe except if you succeed as a gigolo - good luck then)

As with everything, it depends upon exactly what you are talking about. For the average person who buys a couple every week, I think it's nonsense to suggest that that's problematic. If it were true that Warren Buffett plays Powerball regularly, then what? So you have to be more specific.

I took my own advice and did some research.

I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Heck, if you want to become a winner, you should NEVER give up. Only when you give up do you become a loser.

get real job. save money for roll. When you get decent enough roll, try playing for real.

repeat when necessary. If you only tweak out a little profit, keep working and enjoy your added income. Playing professionally is a pipe dream to most, but if you can eek out extra income using your superior skills and drive, then you should be happy with that.
