(11r) Do I overplay AK early?
Whenever I flop TPTK in a 3 handed or heads up pot and the board isn't super coordinated I plan on getting all my chips in the middle. Generally one of two things happens:
1) A8-AQ calls me and I usually win a huge pot 2) Two pair or a set calls me and I usually lose a huge pot I'm having trouble figuring out if I'll come out on top of all these confrontations because I dont have a large enough sample size and its hard to track every time I have a pot like this so what I'm wondering is if I overplay AK when the blinds are small. An example hand for your consideration: PartyPoker $11 Regular Tournament, Big Blind is t60 (8 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com Hero (t3130) UTG+1 (t2775) MP1 (t1940) MP2 (t673) CO (t1802) Button (t5934) SB (t1670) BB (t2076) Preflop: Hero is in UTG with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero raises to t180, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls t150, BB calls t120 Flop: (t540) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets t377, BB calls t377, Hero raises to t2950 (All-in), SB calls t1113 (All-in), BB folds Turn: (t5357) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) River: (t5357) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) |

Re: (11r) Do I overplay AK early?
I think the preflop raise is somewhat debateable. It could be a limping hand...
On the flop... I guess I like it. Any reasonable raise is to at least 1000 and is more than 30% of your stack so you might as well just shove it in. You lose to a set? |

I like it...I probably have trouble in this area too though
Curious to see what others think. |

You lose to a set? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, fours, but I was expecting more to see AQ or an ace with a flush draw |

You played it exactly as you should. You will see AT- here FARRR more often than AQ/44.

Oh, and to the OP: I'd probably go broke here too.
