Default Springboard diving

Getting into it lately. It's fun, to do flips and stuff without getting hurt.

In gymnastics and stuff when you do jumps and flips you pull your knees up to your chest and curl in a ball.. but in springboard diving they keep their legs straight out, even though they are kinda up to their chest. Does anyone know why?

more aesthetically pleasing would be my guess. You can't rotate as fast though.
