Default I help rip off an action player

CasinoAZ 10-150. I am about to leave when an action player shows up, a DJ from Miami, never played here before. First hand I limp Utg with JTs, 6 callers and AP makes it $160. All fold, AP shows 88. Very next hand, a couple limpers and AP makes it $160. SB, a regular non-pro in this game, and UTG call. SB calls $150 flop, cc turn, ccalls $150 river without pushing call out. AP shows winning hand, AA, and SB shows 99 and mucks. As dealer pushes large pot to AP, SB starts stacking up his last call of $150. Dealer turns to check blinds and he asks her if she had pulled in his last call. She says yes I did, I correct her, no you didn't. She insists she did and SB pulls his bet back. AP is laughing and stacking and does not seem to hear our conversation. I am 98% sure I am right but not 100%. I end up arguing with dealer over BB, she insists i am it again. I lose.

Next hand AP folds. I eyeball his stack, it appears $150 short. I say nothing. How big of an SOB am I?

Why were you talking if you weren't in the hand? Let the dealer, the active players, and if necessary the floor handle the action.

So major douche SOB in this case. Hopefully you were just drunk?

Eh, its more of the dealers fault than yours of course. I have tried to correct a dealer on more than a few occasions about someone putting in too much or too little in a limit game, and most of the time they respond and fix it, but soemtimes they just brush it off, even after I bring it up 2 or 3 times. Then I just give up and put on my ipod.

Why does he have to be drunk to bring up after the hand is over? If someone is shorting the pot, someone has to bring it up...

Absolutely not! Speaking up to help a player avoid being cheated does not make one a 'douche SOB'. Rather, attacking someone for sticking up for the integrity of the game, especially with such BS pretexts as he wasn't in the hand, is rediculous.

So you are saying I should tell the AP he might have been shorted?

Or are you saying I have no responcibility for ensuring a fair game is run when I' m the only person who can prevent a serious error? If so remind me never to play in your games. I've been overpaid $100 in this game and the next day I found the other player and gave him his money back. I would have done it even if I wasn't a regular player in this game.

You might have tried harder to get AP's attention during your conversation with the dealer, but you did try to rectify the problem.

SB sounds like a crook and the dealer like either an idiot or co-crook.

This is pretty much what I told OP when we talked about it at the poker room. He tried to do the right thing. As I told him: There are those who say 'keep your mouth shut' and those who say 'It's every player's obligation to maintain the integrity of the game.' Both OP and I are of the latter school and I think everybody should be also. I also told him that now he knows the true character of the player who shorted the pot.

There is a line, though. If I see something like this happen I try to correct it, but if nobody wants to hear about it then I drop it.

where was Pralad Friedman when you need him?

Seriously, if you want vindication then I'll give it to you. You tried, if none of them were interested then your hands are clean. And you might have been wrong.
