Re: Columbia
First it is COLOMBIA
I am a gringo and live there a good bit of the time as my wife is Colombian. It is potentially dangerous, but ok if you stay in the right places. The women are known as among the best in all of the world. Although I do not indulge, the illegal products you discuss are legal for personal use in most of Colombia and cheap, although frowned upon by most of the population. Colombia is a beautiful, proud country with a great culture and very friendly people. Perhaps, Costa Rica or the Dominican Republic would be more to your liking. Vanwely |

Re: Columbia
Early 1980's ( the last time I was there ) -
Looks wise, girls were hit and miss. Good girls didn’t go to bars back then unless escorted by a man and none of the locals spoke English. My family never felt any danger, but certain places are dangerous. We were in the Barranquilla and Cartagena area. Barranquilla was sort of dumpy, Cartagena was a beach resort. I would ask around some more before going. The ordinary people were all very friendly. If you speak Spanish, it’s a huge plus - exchange rates back then were fixed by the government, so you could get way more peso’s for the dollar by bargaining with money sellers on the streets. Cops were more kindly to Americans that spoke Spanish. Pure blow was offered in bars for $10 a gram, but sometimes you could haggle down to $5. |
