Default 2+2ers vs Harrah\'s New Orleans

The rake at Harrah's NOLA is a huge ripoff and not on par with the other casino in town Boomtown. Boomtown's rake is 10% up to $3 on 1-2 nl, while Harrah's is $6 per half hour per player. they have a regular rake on every other game but 1-2 nl. that is a huge rip off and i refuse to play there, I drive past harrahs on my way to Boomtown. i would love to play there but that rake is unfair and imposibble to beat.

Please help the cause by calling the poker room to complain and/or sending them an letter.

Could you give a better idea of the effective amount paid per player per hour at each place or something like that? It is hard for me to compare a raked game with a timed game.

Well That's $120 per hour at a 10 handed table plus JP and tip.

20-30 hands per hour at boomtown would be $20-$90maximum.

Are there lots of people playing these games at Harrah's?
If the answer is yes, then good luck getting Harrah's to listen to your complaint.

This is like writing a letter to Courtyard by Marriott that their downtown hotel is a ripoff at $180/night when you can stay somewhere else for less than half that.

Chances Courtyard or Harrah's gives a crap and lowers their prices/rake across the board because you wrote a letter = zero.

[/ QUOTE ]But two hotels will give you two degrees of service and quality of room for the money while harrah's and boomtown give the exact same thing for a different price.

Id like to go on record that I dont agree with the OP. I'll let others explain why (think management and player's POV at the same time), and rejoin the conversation later.

Whether deserved or not, Harrah's has the reputation as the premier casino destination in New Orleans.
Conventioneers and tourists flock there.

I'm assuming it does more business. Not sure if the poker-room is bigger or not as I have never been to Boomtown.

They are possibly losing a few rake-aware players to Boomtown over this issue but it's probably not significant.
they more than make up for it by the thousands of people filing through their doors everyday.

In Las Vegas right now, the Venetian is offering rake-free games at certain limits.
Bellagio is still the place to find the better games though.

[/ QUOTE ]the floor person at harrah's put it like this, 1-2nl players think it's the wsop and take 10 minutes to do thier action/turn so they don't make enough with a regular rake. i think that's bs. there are better solutions to that problem like making a time limit for a player to act or something else. dont punish everyone over a few dipshts.
