Booked a room at the Flamingo -- what am I getting myself into?
Unlike my other jaunts to LV, I am taking my wife on a vacation rather than a poker binge with my buddies. I want to give her an on-strip nice room, for obvious reasons, but without breaking the bank.
So I did a little research and booked a "GO Luxury" room at Flamingo at $150 per. I know that the Flamingo casino is old and stodgy, but they have a cool pool, and these GO rooms seem to be hi-tech and fancy. The key selling points to me were the beds, the flatscreen in the bathroom mirror and the shower with three heads and a lot of water pressure. All this said, is this where we should be staying? Anyone have any experiences staying at the Flamingo? Are they good to go with the $20 tip trick? Recommendations welcome. Thanks. |

Flamingo is fine, the standard rooms were only marginally worse than Mirage IMO.

Its a nice place good location. If you go to the pool, go early (assuming they're open in winter.)
The poker room is small but soft so if you want to sneak down for a couple of hours of bankroll improvement while the wife gets ready for the evening... or just to get some pokertime in its not a bad place (noisey but very soft). |

I have stayed there several times because of the room rates and location. It really is next to most of the interesting places you would want to visit. However, I don't usually gamble there but go across the street.

I stayed at the Flamingo in April and for the price and location I was more than pleased.

Anyone have any experiences staying at the Flamingo? Recommendations welcome. Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] Was there 3 weeks ago in that room. Was very disappointed and checked out the next morning and went to the Venitian. Flamingo is a dump, average age of patrons about 70, low ceilings, dirty and smokey, zero "vegas 'wow' factor. Flamingo pool area is highly over-rated - old and tired. The Flamingo reminded me of just how bad the 70ies were. Admittedly, I wanted a nice hotel expierience and not just a cheap room in a good location. Venitian was 250 a night and was well worth it. I did not fly all the way to Vegas to stay in a cheap dump. |
