Without further information on the raiser, this is a pretty lousy hand. See if you can get a suited ace wheel in the next round and push those instead.

If the raiser is a jackass, push.

[/ QUOTE ]Hi sharkscopeaholic - Me neither. I simply type the name of each suit and put square brackets around it.

Regarding what to do, you have a trashy starting hand. If you were not in the big blind, I'd say either fold it or try the bully/bluff tactic.

My experience is the bully/bluff tactic works a lot better in Texas hold 'em, no-limit, or pot-limit games than in fixed-limit Omaha-8.

Thus, except that you hate to be bullied by the small blind when you post the bif blind, I'd meekly fold that trash starting hand and wait for a better one.

It's harder to decide when you have posted the big blind and the small blind is possibly trying to steal.

But Small Blind only has roughly half a small bet left. If you re-raise, he'll go all-in and you'll be risking 1.5 small bets to possibly win 3.5 small bets if you scoop, or to save your big blind (1 small bet) if you split. In a ring game, I'd call with your hand in this situation.

In a tournament, I think your best course of action is to fold.

Ok, so this is a clear fold then, the reason im asking is becuase he only has 2.5 small blinds and in hold em tournies your cards usually dont matter in a spot like this. Theres no O8B converters?

[/ QUOTE ]Hi sharkscopeaholic - I wrote my post too hastily and then edited. You replied while I was editing.

I would not say "this is a clear fold," but I would say "this is a fold."

[/ QUOTE ]Hands run closer together in Omaha-8 than Texas hold 'em. I haven't run a simulation, but I'd guess off the top of my head that you probably have favorable odds to play against the range of hands he's probably raising with. As I wrote, this would be an easy call for me in a ring game. But in a tournament, I'm still leaning towards saving my chips for a move of my own.
