it looks a ton like an 8 and a flush draw. Problem is most of his kickers (maybe 9 or A) have you beat as it is and will call a shove.

I usually check the turn and if I did bet it would be to fold to a raise

I'd chop with any kicker other than the A.

I folded the hand. He said he had A9ss and made a terrible play because he wasn't representing anything, which is true. I just didn't pull the trigger.

This seems like an easier fold if I had top pair since it'd be kind of standard to put him on a set of 8s. This was the whole point of the post is that no real hand that he has ever plays like this.

Unless he sucks or plays really weird. In live games up to 5-10, I tend to find "he sucks" or "he plays really weird" is more likely than "he is making a huge bluff", so that biases my thinking.
