Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
What I meant by that was that he is aggressive enough. He floats way way too many flops so his range is still super super wide after the flop.

He could be a great player, but right now his game is a bit too aggressive, and he can't ratchet it down when he needs to. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
ok so how do I work out what his range needs to be for this to be a breakeven call?
I am calling 785 to win 1325. So I need 29.6% equity against his range to make a breakeven call right? I did (785/1325)/2. I hope that is right. Messing with pokerstove now. If I give a range that doesn't include kings or monsters I am way ahead. I'm going to try giving him a more favorable range and seeing what the stove says. |

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
Definitely include monsters, his sudden slowing down is super suspicious.

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
ok here is a range I tried. I suppose a King could be in there so I put all kings in their, expect for AK of course.
KK-QQ,88,33,A8s,A8o,K2s+,K2o+,J8s,T8s,98s,J8o,T8o,98o ,84o+ my Q9 is ~40% against that range, which is more than enough to call (remember I get 1325 If I make the 785 call). I also think he is capable of doing this with an 8. |

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
dboy this hand is hard enough that I'd have to be there in the moment to make this decision. Sorry that doesnt help I know but this is a spot where u really need an unadulterated read.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm starting to think that too. At the time it happened I just felt that I should call. Of course I don't always trust this feeling, so I felt the need to post it. |

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
Haven't read all the replies, just runned through it.
Cwar's is right about the good general rule in CB'ing 120 instead. I usually bet turn also, but this is ok. River is almost never a check against any villain. You will loose a lot of value if you don't bet it! Also, against this type of player, it seems like you should call a bit lighter, hence your thoughts about this hand. |

A river bluff is fairly likely with this type of villain. |
