Sometimes you get nits that unwrap the rock, that is very bad for the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Any person whom I ever see do this will get kicked in the nuts, even if I'm not in the game.

straddles are fun to loosen things up, but if you can broker a live cap then thats the balls baby.

My favorite straddle story is from last Friday.

Playing some 1/2NL at a room on the local Mohawk reservation I have a guy with a huge stack on my right who has straddled the last 4 rounds and I have been stuck with junk each time. So here he goes again, and this time I decide I have had enough so I re-straddle for 8$ and get 4 callers bak to him - he raises to $22 and I look down at AK suited and call, one more to the flop plus one lady who was all-in with the original 4$. Flop comes KK7 and he opens for $80, I push for ~$280. Other player calls for his last 30$ and the original raiser goes in the tank and starts fuming, finally folding QQ faceup. All-in lady shows 77 for the boat (but only a small side pot), other dude show A7. Turn is garbage, River hits the beautiful Q to send Mr Straddle on total tilt for the next orbit!

Can the nits and rocks refuse to straddle when it's required?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes they can refuse - If everyone agrees to straddle for a round - if it gets to them the house isnt going to force them to put it in - normally the person will object while the table is talking about it, rarely does someone say they will do it then, then refuse to straddle when it hits them

Kill Pots - Straddles are not allowed on kill pots

At Foxwoods the kill isn't the usual "someone won 2 in a row" but is triggered by pot size.

For some reason, most floor people allow straddling in a kill pot there.

one of my favorite straddle hands:

playing 20/40 with Daver and TT, I straddle and end up seeing a flop with xx 7 ways for 4 bets. I give Daver my hand (I haven't looked at my cards), the flop comes and I check. Daver then turns to me and tells me I should probably look at my hand. I have Q5o with a board of Q75r and I end up winning a giant pot against AA and putting the AA chick on monster tilt the rest of the night

Her words, either on this hand or a later one where you sucked out huge, was, "You're the luckiest [censored] alive."

Stephanie?

Of course.

Not sure if the Mississppi straddle orginated in MS or not but in Tunica they allow live straddles from anywhere on the table with two rules. The blinds can't straddle and the option to straddle starts on the button and goes counter-clockwise around the table.

The live straddle on the button in NL or PLO is +EV. I also use the live straddle to loosen up a rockbed. Some of the old heads launch into the stratosphere when I straddle every hand for 3 rounds.

Straddling is awesome. Straddling 3 handed is more awesome.

The only thing better than straddling is re-straddling.

Was playing 2-5 NL at the Rio last weekend and I and the guy next to me started MS straddling to loosen up the table. We knew we were successful when the next guy stopped straddling because he said we were pissing off the nits at the other end of the table. MS straddle rules!
