delgado for HOF??

I think baseball gonna have a problem in say 5 years or so when they start keeping guys out of the hall of fame with 500 hrs. Has Delgado domintated the sport? I don't think so but just say he avgs even 30hr a year next 5 years he would be 39 with 550 hr and prob close to 2000 rbi's. So it's gonna be close.

At this point, Delgado is not a HOFer, but he's got a lot of career left.

This coversation is premature. It's tough enough debating guys like Roberta Alomar, etc...and they are done. No use talking about a borderline player like Delgado when he has 4 or 5 years left (at least) to prove or disprove his worth.

I would say Delgado nor Thome are in with their current stats. I think Thome needs 3-4 good seasons and Delgado needs 5-6 good seasons for serious consideration. 500 homers is not a lock anymore.

i think everyone is overthinking the problem. a basic standard for the hall should be that you're one of the best players of your generation at your position. delgado is behind thomas, mcgwire, bagwell, helton, thome, pujols, palmeiro, and not really ahead of olerud, giambi, clark, mcgriff. if he finishes his career strong, he may be one of the top ten first basemen of the 1985-2010 era.

Possibly the best offense outfielder in the AL from 75 to 85

I agree Rice belongs in but he was not nice to media and those guys hold grudges. I once heard a HOF voter say he would NEVER vote yes on any player first time eligible. That is just plain stupid.

The best hitters of that "generation" were Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Wade Boggs, Pedro Guerrero, Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, and Eddie Murray.
