Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Anyone else love watching NFL films recaps on HBO's Inside the NFL? You see things you would never see otherwise.
In the Pats-Colts game: Brady walking up the sideline yelling, "plenty of football to play!" in the 2nd quarter. Moss walking up the sideline later in the game slapping high-fives and saying, "We got them on the ropes, baby, let's just keep doin' what we do!" And Belichick near the end of the game yelling, "60 minutes of football! That's what we play!" Followed by everyone in the locker room huddled up: "Who's 9-0 going into the bye! Whooomp!" We abstract these players so much because all we can see is their performance on the field and have no idea what goes in the clubhouse or on the sidelines. These guys are making history and headlines to us, but to them, it's pure football. Love it. |

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
seems like a good time to bring this up
Adam Vinatieri is 16/20 this year on fg’s, 27/29 on xp’s Stephen Gostkowski is 11/12, 46/46 In kickoffs, Gostkowski has touchbacks in 8/38 (21%) attempts Vinatieri is 8/54 (15%) Vinatieri 2007 cap charge: $2.07m Gostkowski 2007 cap charge: $472k Vinatieri is signed through 2010, Gostkowski 2009 I was against this move at the time, but I was wrong. we got younger, much cheaper, and better by replacing Vinatieri with Gostkowski. |

I wonder how this affects Vinatieri's HOF chances. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think you can take away what he's done. he'll be 35 next month, which I would guess is longer than most kickers play (?). so it's kind of a question of, do you penalize him for playing through a decline phase? this is assuming that Vinatieri is in a genuine old age decline phase, and his problems with strength/accuracy aren't being caused by some other injuries. but he wasn't great in 2005 or 2006 either, so I think it's likely he's just gotten old. |

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Close call.
49ers marched down the field in the final minutes of their game against the Rams before Dilfer threw an interception in the endzone. Final score: Rams 13, 49ers 9. The relevent standings: 32. Miami 0-10 28-31. San Francisco 2-8 28-31. St. Louis 2-8 28-31. Oakland 2-8 28-31. New York Jets 2-8 Two teams are 3-7. |

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Also, Chris Carter absolutely HATES the Pats and is basically openly rooting for their ultimate demise even though his boy is one of the principal architects of their run. Dan Marino is starting to come around as a Pats Believer even though he never gave any credit to their run in past years and always though they would lose the next game no matter how many they had won in the past. Chris Collinsworth just might be more of a Pats homer than anyone in this forum (with the exception of everyone at SI), and Costas is a big Colts homer who always gives the Pats credit and tries never to take a side in these big games but whose allegiance seems fairly clear.
