Default TP in a 3-bet pot oop, and my kicker sucks

First of all I have to thank you guys for opening my eyes on several occasions. But as you will soon see a whole lotta work remains to be done. Now that I finally have registered I guess it is time to post some hands. This one is probably boring, however, here we go...

15/30 6-handed, Pacific Poker

Villain: 38/18/1,7

Hero opens from the Hijack with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 1 fold, Button 3-bets, 2 fold, Hero calls.

Flop 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

check, bet, call

Turn 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

check, bet, call

River 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

check, bet, fold

As you played it, don't fold the river. He's putting you on a J since you didn't do anything postflop, so he'll be value betting KK, QQ, KJ, and QJ, and may also bluff small pairs or KQ.

I don't see anything wrong with raising A8o in MP.

You can't fold the river here. He's value betting PP's/Jx and barreling flush and st8 draws.

the way you played this hand i cant see folding as an option. the villain is definitely betting QQ KK KJ and any ace on the river. villain could also just put u on a missed flush draw and decide to 3 barrel with a weaker hand. villains river betting range much too big to warrant a fold from you

Maybe I should have added that I had put him on a solid range: a better ace, KQ, 66+. Never caught this guy 3-betting me light in a few hundred hands.

I find it hard to believe that villain is valuebetting KK/QQ at the end because I may have a jack. Would it be weak to fold KJ/QJ/JTs to a riverbet? First of all I fear having been bluffed out.

Given his range, am I supposed to play this one fast?

You can, but I think you'd do better with the more passive approach in this spot. You don't spray any chips when you're behind, and he'll be inclined to fire mutiple barrels at you when you're ahead.
