I would love to see us lose this game if it means that Lloyd Carr is finally mercifully put out to pasture. It would really, really suck if we were to somehow win this game + the Rose Bowl (not that this would happen, but still) and then have the AD turn around and extend his contract. Srsly.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if you saw adanthar, but Lloyd's retiring:

WTF this is just ridiculous. How can you even use "us" in that paragraph? When I hear stuff like this it really pisses me off.

Henne's freshman season was a wonder compared to this guy and I'm not happy about the next two years if he's the starter, either.

[/ QUOTE ]

Henne's freshman year was partially a product of throwing to Jason Avant and Braylon Edwards. He threw some pretty crappy balls with zero touch, but he only needed to put it within 6 feet of those guys for a completion.

The anti-Carr stuff is silly. Long-time speculation was he would retire after this year. Very strong, reliable info today in various places (MGOBLOG being the non-pay variety) insists he will announce next Monday. Regardless, whatever you may or may not think of Carr, it's doubtful that the next hire is so much better that we should welcome ANOTHER defeat to OSU instead of another Big Ten title and a trip to Pasadena. I'm ready for change, I'll be upset if he doesn't retire, but if we beat OSU that's 4 RB's in 5 years. That's pretty good.

If Michigan wins, all Boise State has to do to get back to the BCS is win out.

My family's from Boise and I currently live in Columbus, so I'm loving this scenario and hope you're right. (I enjoy rooting against the home team here, it freaks people out). But if you'll indulge a stupid girl who doesn't really understand sports... why does a Michigan win in particular help BSU?

I'd think otherwise. If Mich wins, they go to the Rose and you have a 10-2 OSU team (granted, with 2 straight losses) that is at least a candidate for one. If OSU wins, there's zero chance the Big Ten gets two teams.

Michigan will almost certainly sneak higher than 16 if they win given that a bunch of the teams in front of them will lose a few more games since the Big Ten ends so early.

[censored] Michigan, by the way.

BSU has to finish above a conference champion (among other things) in the BCS rankings in order to get a BCS bowl bid. Michigan isn't very highly ranked in the BCS for obvious reasons, and BSU would have some chance to qualify if Michigan wins. BSU can't move ahead of tOSU. This isn't the only possible way BSU can get in (and it doesn't seem that likely anyway), but it's something.

That said, go Blue.
