As for the girl. That should be bloody well unquestioned.

Stalin said, "A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic." People are twice as willing to kill thousands of innocent people and hurt tens of thousands at the behest of a distant politician, than to allow a single person to be hurt at the behest of friends.

Of course, even that's not true. Studies have indicated people are very willing to allow things like the rape described above. But the way people have reported here is telling.

There's a difference between knowing of immortality and its responsibilities and the damage caused by pain to an individual.

In both scenarios, I'll pay the price with my mortal life. I can't save a million Japanese from a nuclear bomb...

I can sure as hell take on a handful of unexperienced, untrained men to stop harm befalling a girl, but then again, I have had the training, and practice endlessly.

But I digress. And pressed to the task, most males are lying when they say they would stop the rape.

Mistake for 'em daisies if they do.

Take it easy, madnak.

K.

Case 2. Most of you would do nothing.
2000 in New York. During a rally a group of young
men decided to start molesting women. The crowd
watched and did nothing. Some even cheered on the
young men. A woman reported it to a nearby
policeman. He did nothing.
It may sound noble on a forum to protect the woman.
Real life will be tougher than make belief. No one
knows what they'll do until it happens.
The Accused with Jodie Foster. The crowd did
nothing.

The truthful answer is yes, no.

[/ QUOTE ]

The problem with this analogy is that the crowd does not have guns. In the hypothethical case described by Nielso we get to have a gun.
I know the police officer has a gun, but can he go againts 2000 people. 20 is easier to back off than 2000.

You're the one with the bomb, but you're powerless? I don't understand this mentality, but, okay.
