Default 5-10NL 88 in 3 bet pot

Just looking for some advice on this hand I am taking my first shots at 5-10 and have a tendency to play kind of weak tight. The villain in this hand is aggressive I've seen him sitting at 25-50 before he's most likely the best player at the table, his turn C/R felt really fishy and I really thought I had the best hand, I wanted to shove and even if I called I was sure he would shove river whether he had a hand or not. Anyway here's the hand I can't find a converter for this site so its text, thanks for any advice.

one problem i always had when moving up is i would get way too anxious and make really dumb/spewy plays, either always putting villains on the nuuts or always putting them on bluffs. its like when you see a hot chick for the first time your brain just turns off and you act like a caveman.

well, maybe thats just me.

here i would try t o check it down and figure out what hes 3betting me with, it doesnt seem like a bad spot to check it down either since you're likely good but can stand 0 pressure. once he raises i'm guessing he can play any # of hands like this such as larger overpairs or sets, so i drop it.

you could say if he views you just as a dude at these limits trying to take a shot wouldnt you just try to check it down too? which does make a double c/r very odd, but i tend to think when good players take really goofy lines against new unknowns they usually have the goods. i mean would you take such a line against an unknown unless you knew you had him beat. probably not.

My plan on the turn was to protect my hand if he just called I was going to check behind the river. I was pretty sure I had the best hand he is usually so aggressive I don't see him slowplaying a big hand here. In retrospect maybe I should have just tried to check it down, I was actually really suprised he checked the flop in the first place as I thought he would cont bet his entire range there. I think he views me as tight and solid if anything maybe a little too tight I was playing with him yesterday for a bit too and he was asking another player if I was new but I have been there for about 2 months just never played with him until yesterday.

Given your line on villain, I think you should only fire at 4th if you're prepared to re-pop a c-raise.

You're going to give this away on 5th if you continue here.

Thanks for the responses here's the results, I guess betting the turn was bad unless I knew what to do to a C/R to be honest that was the last thing I was expecting him to do, I guess I'm just not used to playing against villains this aggressive/tricky, the reason I didn't bet the flop was because at that time I still thought it was possible he was trapping me but on the turn I couldn't see him checking a strong hand twice.
