Re: How much money does party lose/hour?
I think that party make more than 2.4mil a day. Also, the servers have a tendency to go down during peak hours so at 2.4m/day it would still be much more than 100k/hr since most of their income is generated during these hours. They also lose money from:
1. The downtime that it takes players to log back on since games don't resume as usual as soon as the servers are back up 2. Players permanently leaving their site as a result of the crahsed servers. |

Re: How much money does party lose/hour?
REVANUE was something like $400M last year. That's about $1M per day. Monday is far from a Peak day. So it's closer to 0.5M on Monday. OK, sure, they have grown in the past year, and 7pm EST is a good time of day. My estimate would be closer to $50k / hour.

Way more than enough to get at least mildly intelligent programmers to create a client that doesn't completely shut down all the time. [/ QUOTE ] This is the part that baffles me. If they invested more money into software development it was EASILY pay for itself over time. |

When it is down, a lot of people won't play again until the next day, even if their session today would have been five hours and the site is only down for one. There are new players who may be turned away forever if their first experieneces with online poker involves constant crashing and disconnects. |

Re: How much money does party lose/hour?
You realize how much effort the programmers and server operators have to put in to this kind of stuff, millions and millions of small money transfers are going on every day, if they realize the smallest potential hole in their software they have to completly shut down before they can allow anyone back in. To them, being hackerproof trumps short term profits.
You may also be surprised to hear that technology isn't perfect, you realize how many carriers that Party has to use (and has no control over) to get high speed data transfers overseas to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide? |

Re: How much money does party lose/hour?
A few people have touched on something that I dont' understand.
Although I am the first to admit that I am not the most computer literate person, would Party gaming not benefit from investing more money in itself? Or do these crashes occur no matter how much money you throw at them? They certainly seem to be pissing it away fairly quickly right now, I would guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 k in the past two hours. How many Indian programmers does 200k American buy? Re: How much money does party lose/hour?
of course its difficult, but you're saying that they couldn't vastly improve performance if they invested a million into improving stability?
