Default the patriots are gonna get a top 5 pick in the draft...

this just occured to me when i realized the niners traded this year's first round pick to the [censored] patriots.

this is starting to get unfair

they're already arguably the greatest team ever assembled, now they get a [censored] top 5, maybe top 3 pick in the draft in spite of the fact that they may run the table?

how [censored] sick good can one team run?

I don't think the Pats will want to use the top 5 pick, though. I expect it to be traded.

Didn't the commish take it away? Or, nm. I guess they had two and this one is the 49ers pick. Right?

they lost their own pick, they keep the one they got from the 49'ers. they could have had 2 1st rounders, now THAT would have been ridiculous.

if they end up getting something like 2 firsts and a second for that pick i'll be disgusted. If they end up having to devote a ton of cap space to some player who is a year or two away from making a major impact in the league then I think it is good for everyone else.

I wonder who they would they take if it is top 5 and they don't trade it. Jake Long?

the most pressing need would be a ILB to replace Bruschi/Seau. other top picks will likely be a CB (if they don't resign Asante) or a WR (if they don't resign Moss).

Pats are pretty sat at both lines

I think its very unlikely this a top 5 pick. The Niners have been hurt and have a very easy schedule remaining:

Sun 11/4 at Atlanta 1:00 pm
Mon 11/12 at Seattle 8:30 pm
Sun 11/18 St. Louis 4:15 pm
Sun 11/25 at Arizona 4:05 pm
Sun 12/2 at Carolina 1:00 pm
Sun 12/9 Minnesota 4:05 pm
Sat 12/15 Cincinnati 8:15 pm
Sun 12/23 Tampa Bay 8:15 pm
Sun 12/30 at Cleveland 1:00 pm

Their toughest remaining game is the Browns. They're most likely going to be 7-9/6-10.

Already good teams don't (and shouldn't) draft this way. See Addai, Joseph.

Exactly.
