Ridiculous line for Sharks @ Coyotes (NHL)..closes in 30 mins

I saw this line and something has to be off...The game starts in less than 30 mins so the time is tight.

San Jose Sharks -118 (OT included)

The sharks are first in their division , and Phoenix is last.
Sharks won the first 2 games against phoenix this year
Phoenix goalie is 0-3 vs the sharks
Phoenix is 2-6 at home
Phoneix is missing a top defenseman due to suspension.

Unless I'm missing somethign here (like the SJ airplane just crashed) I see this game as around -160 to -170.

Anyways, I pounded it hard, and the -1.5 spread, and if you'd like to, you have 20 mins [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Oh, and these 2 teams just played back to back and SJ won 5-0 and 4-1, so that data is VERY recent.

Maybe, maybe not. I've only been betting the NHL for 2 years now, but am I diehard fan and would like to think I know enough to do some rough handicapping of the lines. This one just seemed so off to me, by up to 50 cents, so I thought I'd post it here, with some rudimentry analysis for the discerning sports bettors.

Hopefully it pans out, but even if it doesn;t, I am still convinced the line is way off.

SJ has played a brutal schedule lately including last night. Phoenix has had a few days off and hasnt played since the last loss to SJ. I took Phoenix +105

Yes, San Jose played an extra game in there, but that is it. In my opinion that is not going to overcome how dominant SJ was over Phoenix the last 2 games.

2-0 already in the first, I'm not worried.

Thats exactly what Borsberg said, Phoenix hasn't played since they played SJ on Monday, while SJ had to play a tough game in Dallas last night, you can't underestimate this.

You're looking good so far though, regardless of the line not being off.

I don't want to be results oriented, as SJ is thrashing Phoenix 5-0 but I think you are OVERestimating the impact that the extra game SJ played has. SJ dominated phoenix in their two previous games, and it wasn't even close (5-0 and 4-1). I also mentioned that PHO is missing a ton of toughness on the back end with the suspension, and Phoenix has been terrible at home all year, and goaltending....

We could argue our opinions all night, but I stated in my second post that win or lose, I still think there was incredible value in the line being so low (-118) and I stand by that.
