Yeah, I think 1920x1200 is outside of the specs for VGA, so anything could happen here. It works OK with my Radeon X1300, but on the Radeon M300 it doesn't work at all.

A friend of mine runs a 24" Dell 1920x1200 through VGA and it looks great, but I had to use DVI on my new 24" to get it to adjust properly for me.

Those lines going up the screen reminded me of my brother's monitor. He has a 1440x900 19" Samsung widescreen, which looks great through a good video card, but thru his laptop's stock VGA output he has the same problem that you're describing.
